Working in fast food isn’t uncommon for most teenagers, but assisting the elderly isn’t usually listed in their job descriptions.
While at work at Hardees, 17-year-old Kailen Young was washing the windows one balmy summer day when he noticed a woman leaving. She was having a lot of trouble, so he put his supplies in one hand and offered his arm for the woman to steady herself with. What Kailen didn’t know was that a stranger across the street at the gas station witnessed the even and snapped a quick picture.
He posted the picture on Hardees’ Facebook page where is got over 16,000 shares in just one day. People from around the world were sending messages, congratulating him on his actions and wishing him well.
Soon after, Hardees rewarded the teen with a $1,000 check as a reward for his kindness and representing their brand well.
Some people say they view it as rare, and I was surprised by that, because it’s just a normal thing for me. Going through reading the comments, it’s been very humbling, very heartwarming.” Kailen told his local news station.
Kailen plans to put the money toward college and in going to major in engineering!
