This server decides to post one of the most shocking stories from his time working at a restaurant in a small town, and it is REALLY awful! Sure, sometimes people might step out of line or say something that they probably didn’t think through before they said it. Maybe she was just really adamant about getting a free meal and was trying harder and harder to be offensive. Whatever the case, this is one of the most outrageous stories I’ve ever heard…and I congratulate the parents of those two incredible boys!
(I used work at a restaurant in a small town. It is the evening shift and a woman eating alone keeps giving me trouble.)
The woman flags me down and curtly says, “this order is not right.” She didn’t explain what was wrong, she just shoved the plate into my hands.
“All right, I’ll just take this and bring you a fresh order.” It was a busy afternoon and I knew the chef would rather make a new order than deal with a rude customer.
“No, I demand I get this meal fixed and the correct dish for free!” She was obviously ready to demand a manager, but I knew I needed to try and rectify the situation.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that, but I’ll have your order out right away.” I left to get her new food, but that didn’t stop her from complaining about everything from the way the napkins were folded to the temperature of her drink being “off.”
When it was clear that I wasn’t going to budge and give her a free meal, she starts to loudly complain about the table next to her…a black family with a baby and a toddler.
“I refuse to eat next to those… animals. Their smell is appalling. They probably came to the restaurant just to rob it!”
I wasn’t sure if anyone had heard her remark so I kept up with my other tables, but when I came back, apparently she hadn’t stopped with the racist slurs. I was about to fetch the manager and have her removed from the restaurant when 2 kids stood up suddenly.
“Why don’t you stop being a racist cow?” The first one asked. Their table had been behind hers, and his parents looked rather proud of their son.
“Yeah,” his older brother stood up, clearly ready to fight the woman. “At least those ‘animals’ know how to behave in a restaurant!”
I swear they started “moo-ing” while she left the restaurant. She walked out on her bill, but not after throwing her plate onto the ground. I brought the kids free ice cream.
Name-calling isn’t necessarily something we want our children to make a habit of…but in this case, they were completely justified! I don’t know what I would have done if I had witnessed something as terrible as this! When we’re out and about running errands, we don’t plan to witness people making idiots of themselves and it usually catches us off-guard. What a wild story!
