Cooking meals with a microwave isn’t that uncommon, but baking with a microwave sounds a bit too futuristic for most of us! We wouldn’t hesitate to toss in yesterday’s lasagna or a tv dinner, but when it comes to baking, the microwave isn’t the first appliance that we think about using. Welcome to the world of mug cakes!
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup Nutella
And a mug!
Mix everything in a microwave-save mug and stir it all up until it is smooth. You want the batter to be free of lumps and well-blended. Once the mixture looks perfect, pop it into the microwave. On HIGH, set it for 60 seconds. Take a look at the batter. It will be ready when the cake starts to pull away from the edges of the mug! Set the timer to 15 seconds, and try again. If it still isn’t quite done, add 15 more seconds.
The cake should be dry, and should spring back into place if touched.
Once it is done, it is ready to eat! Feel free to top it with ice cream, whipped cream, powdered sugar…or nothing at all! Would you try this crazy recipe? You can find more details here.
