Anaya Ellick may have been born without hands, but that hasn’t stopped her from doing anything that she puts her mind to. Her life will be full of challenges, but she won’t ever stop being an inspiration to everyone.
At 7 years old, Anaya doesn’t use prosthetics. It may be harder for her to do many things, but she gets creative when it comes to doing things like tying her shoes, getting dressed, and surprisingly enough, writing.
Her parents were shocked when they learned that she would be born without hands and didn’t know what to expect. But as their baby daughter grew into a clever little girl, they knew that she would be just fine.
So when Zaner-Bloser sponsored the National Handwriting Contest, Anaya entered with as much confidence as the students around her.
See her entry below:
At age 7, my handwriting was nowhere near as perfect as hers is! Her teacher was not surprised that Anaya won.
She is a hard worker and has some of the best handwriting in her class.” Her principal said proudly.
The award for winning is a prize of $1,000 and a large trophy! Her school also won a gift certificate that they will use on resources for the students and teachers.
She truly is an inspiration and a shining example that with enough hard work and determination, anyone really can do anything! Her future is bright, and we’re excited to see what challenges she tackles next!
