There are some really terrible doctors out there. Maybe they are brilliant at surgery and have the best records when it comes to patient diagnosis…but when they open their mouths, patients are stunned that someone could be so rude or judgmental. When I go to the doctor, I just want them to figure out what’s wrong and give me the help that I need to get better. I don’t want to be worried about HOW they will talk to me when I tell them what my problem is…this poor woman may never go the doctor again!
A woman went to the Doctor’s office, where she was seen by one of the new doctors, but after about 4 minutes in the examination room, she burst out, screaming as she ran down the hall.
An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was, and she told him her story.
After listening, he had her sit down and told her to go relax in another room.
The older doctor marched down hallway to the back where the first doctor was and demanded, “What’s the matter with you?! Mrs. Terry is 63 years old, she has two grown children and several grandchildren, and you told her she was pregnant?”
The new doctor continued to write on his clipboard and without looking up said, “Does she still have the hiccups?”
You know…I’m impressed. While his method was terrible, and this patient will probably have trust issues from now on at any doctor’s office…I guarantee that her hiccups were completely gone! In this case, I might be able to make an exception for how the doctor handled it. Hiccups are one of the hardest things to cure! Too bad this will only really work one time!
