In less populated states, it’s not uncommon for people carry firearms with them at all times. Not only for their own safety, but usually for the safety of their animals against wild predators. When the population is spread out over large acres of land, being able to defend yourself against whatever may come your way. Although most people might only carry one…
A Montana Highway Patrol officer made a traffic stop on an elderly lady the other day for speeding on U.S. 200 westbound at mile marker 13, just west of Great Falls, Montana. He asked for her driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance.
The lady took out the required information and handed it to him.
In with the cards he was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age) to see she had a conceal carry permit. He looked at her and asked if she had a weapon in her possession at this time.
She responded that she indeed had a .45 automatic in her glove box. Something – body language, or the way she said – made him want to ask if she had any other firearms.
She did admit to also having a 9mm Glock in her center console. Now he had to ask one more time if that was all.
She responded once again that she did have just one more, a .38 special in her purse.
The officer looked at her for a while before asking on very important question. “Ma’am,” he started seriously. “What are you so afraid of?”
She looked him right in the eye and answered with an intense surety. “Not a damned thing!”
Was it overkill? I don’t think so! With a defense like that, I can’t see anyone bothering this old woman for very long! This story cracked me up because I can picture it just so perfectly. A small, unassuming grandma…ready to face the dangers ahead with confidence! Too funny!
