Sometimes we forget that kids need things explained to them in a very simple way. When they ask a dumb question, it can be hard to remember that they honestly just don’t know any better. They are always curious as they try to understand the world that we have built for them, and it’s hard not to pull your hair out when they ask you “but, why?” fifteen times in one conversation. In this case, the pastor got a lot more than he bargained for when he greeted this kid one morning…
One Sunday morning, the pastor of a church noticed little Bobby standing in the foyer of the church staring up at a large plaque. It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of it.
The little boy had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the boy and greeted him quietly. “Good morning, Bobby.”
“Good morning, pastor,” Bobby replied, but never took his eyes off of the plaque. “What’s this wall for?”
The pastor answered him with reverence. “Well son, it’s a memorial to all the young men and women who died in service.”
Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque.
Finally, little Bobby’s voice whispered a chilling question…
“Which service? The 8:30, or the 10:45?”
Oh no! This poor kid! I wonder what he must have been thinking?! I think this is hilarious and I hope the pastor didn’t lose his composure and laugh at the poor kid! This joke is just too cute…
