This Boy And His Grandfather Listened To EVERYONE…And Disaster Struck In An Unpredictable Way!

WARNING: Language!

This is an older story that has been around for decades! It does a great job shedding light onto a more and more prevalent problem in our society. While it may have been true 50 years ago, it is even MORE so today. With our every thought and action being broadcast on the internet, it’s easier to be judgmental and band together when we see something with which we don’t agree. Should you always judge a situation when you first see it, or should you let others go about their business and mind your own? This story raises a very good question, and has a rather clever answer.

An old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked beside him. As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding. The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.

Later, they passed some people who remarked, “What a shame! He makes that little boy walk.” They then decided they would both walk.

Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So they both rode the donkey.

Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey. The boy and man said they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal, and he fell into the river and drowned.

The moral of the story? If you try to please everyone, you might as well kiss your “ass” goodbye.

Taking care of your own business and staying out of other’s can be harder than it sounds. It’s so incredibly simple to leave a comment on someone’s Facebook post or say something nasty without having to face any real repercussions. It’s also much too easy to change your mind based on a few harsh words from others. What do you do when everyone wants you to do something different? Sometimes the answer is simply to do what you think is right and to let the world do whatever it wants!
