Those who have experienced such a loss would never wish it on even their worst enemies, and those who have not can’t even come close to understanding the pain. This couple decided to go out to a cafe to have a meal several weeks after the loss of their darling daughter, Glory.

What do you say? What can you say? “Sorry” doesn’t nearly say enough, but often it is the only thing available. There isn’t a word to express our deepest sympathies. There isn’t a hug tight enough to close the hole that forms when a child dies. This act of kindness was a gesture of sympathy – one that I am sure the couple appreciated. No, it doesn’t make the loss easier, and it doesn’t do much in the way of comfort, but the thought that people care and wish them the best through the hardest of times might have been enough to brighten their day, just a little. And sometimes, that is just enough for one day.
