Back in 1950, Joe spotted Wanda walking along the sidewalk. He thought she looked nice, so he pulled over and asked her out on a date. She was flattered and agreed! The two hit it off instantly, and were engaged in December of 1950. They were married two years later and have been in love all this time. To celebrate their relationship, Shalyn Nelson, their granddaughter, decided that a special photo shoot was in order.Nelson is a photographer and just knew that they moment was special. Her grandparents had been role models for her when it came to love and happiness in life, and she wanted to capture that sentiment.
She took her grandmother to Macy’s and helped her pick out the perfect new dress. Wanda was excited to get all dolled up and look her best! Joe put on his favorite tux (and classy yellow bow tie) to prepare for the occasion. Nelson asked the two to each write a love letter, and the couple read their vows and adoration aloud. The mood was set, and the air was filled with happiness and love.Nelson captured every bit of it in these precious pictures. The shots went viral, and we can see why. This love was something to aspire to – something to look forward to, even. We only have one life to live, but if we could fill it up with love and joy and happiness, it would all be worth it.
