For as long as she could remember, Nadia, a 12-year-old girl living in England, has collected trash. Because of her drive to pick up garbage from the streets, classrooms, and anywhere that she went, bullies began to call her names. When the name “Trash Girl” stuck around, she decided that it wasn’t a bad thing to be called. She had a passion for cleaning up the environment, and she wasn’t going to stop for anyone.
I’m not going to stop doing the right thing because of them, and if they are going to call me trash girl, they can say it with respect.” She said.
She wants people to know that collecting garbage and litter isn’t “someone else’s job,” it is everyone’s job. The nickname only served to make her work even harder to clean up the city she lived in.She began encouraging others to join her and even made a Facebook group to celebrate the efforts to clean up the streets. Thanks to her efforts, projects have been launched to help the environment, even several in other countries! People were inspired by the girl who transformed a mean nickname into a tool for good, and society is better off for it.
