In Tauranga, New Zealand, artist Benjamin Lloyd posted a photograph of a child covered in his tattoos. He said that if the post got 50 likes, he would go to the Starship Children’s Health hospital and offer up his unique talents. Within hours, he surpassed his “50 likes,” and the post currently has over 450,000. It looks like some kids are about to get some crazy artwork on their bodies!
But these aren’t real tattoos, of course – these are made with non-toxic, water-based India ink applied with an airbrush and stencils! The “tattoos” give kids the confidence to fight back from their diseases and illnesses. They feel empowered and tough – and that is just what these kids need to fight for their lives every single day.
Hundreds of parents and fans request that he airbrush his artwork on their children. They are afraid that he will run out of time, or won’t get to all of the children who want to have these awesome designs painted onto their skin.
Lloyd explained that it takes less than 10 minutes to complete a painting. No child will be left out! He will even bring a film crew to witness and document the entire day! He wants to create memories for these kids that they will be able to look back on and never lose their confidence.
The hospital is excited about Lloyd’s promise and have already started coordinating with him to make it happen! The photos of his previous works of art have gone viral, and the kids at the hospital can’t wait for their turn!
It’s just amazing watching their confidence and their ego boost up. The only bad thing is that they don’t want to take a shower afterwards.”
I can’t wait to see how excited the kids are after his day at the hospital! I imagine that there will be a lot of happy faces and a zillion adorable pictures!
