Bear the cat passed away suddenly and left one couple from the UK in mourning…but they had no idea that Bear had made a friend next door and had impacted a complete stranger’s life. Bear had a brother, Teddy, and about a week after losing Bear, Teddy came home with a note attached to his collar.
I’m your neighbor, living in #4. I’m also your cat’s close friend as they (your 2 cats) are used to coming to my room everyday. But one of them, the bigger one, has disappeared for two weeks. Is he ok? I’m so worried about him. He is a lovely cat and always touched my heart. Wish he is fine.
They dropped a letter in the mail to #4 (because attaching a letter to their cat might not make it), explaining that the missing cat’s name was Bear and that he had tragically passed away. They included their email address, and the morning after sending the letter, received a longer explanation from the stranger.
She was a Taiwanese exchange student studying at the nearby University and loved it when the cats came pawing at her door. They kept her company when she needed friends and listened to her when she practiced her presentations for class. She felt homesick, but the friendly cats made each day more bearable.
She even sent a picture of the cats hanging out in her room! They told her that Bear was buried in a nearby garden, and she visited to place flowers on his grave.
It made them happy to know that Bear had touched more lives than just their own.
