Getting errands done over a lunch break has become second-nature for most of us. There are too many things to get done every day and not enough hours in which to do them. We want to park, run in, take care of errands, and leave in as little time as possible so that we can scarf down an actual meal in the parking garage at work before we race back into the office…but what happens when someone in line decides to take too long? Most people would get irritated and impatient. One woman named Spring Bowlin, however, decided to snap this picture instead.
She was behind an elderly man who watched carefully as his purchases were rung up at the counter. When the cashier gave him his total, he looked back at the line behind him and looked embarrassed as he began to take loose change from his pockets.
He miscounts and starts to get flustered. Gives me a muttered, ‘I’m so sorry.’ His hands and voice are shaking.
This beautiful cashier takes his hands and dumps all the change on the counter and says, ‘This is not a problem, honey. We will do this together.’ He continues to apologize to both of us as we reassure him it’s ok. They get his transaction handled and he shuffles away.” She wrote.
When it was her turn, she thanks the cashier for having patience with the customer, but the woman’s words stunned her.
You shouldn’t have to thank me, baby. What’s wrong with our world is we’ve forgotten how to love one another.’ “
It’s a lesson that we all can learn. The man hadn’t done it on purpose, but he expected people to upset with him. The world shouldn’t be that way, and its up to us to change it.
