How much is a really nice wedding dress these days? You can find a nice gown for a couple hundred dollars at a department store. You can splurdge on a designer gown for thousands of dollars. And you could probably find a nice one at a thrift store for under a hundred. But could you find one for under $30?! Probably not! One clever and crafty woman took her wedding dress into her own hands (literally) and decided to create something truly spectacular!
The dress is also machine washable (I’ve washed it several times), doesn’t wrinkle or need any special care, and I plan on wearing it again with linings of different colors and with the train bustled up in different ways.”
Because of the style, it fit her like a glove! It’s gorgeous, and getting that kind of perfect fit would cost a pretty penny at a tailor. And that train? To die for! The best part is that the train is adjustable! She could make it shorter and wear it with a different colored lining to create a truly unique party outfit!
The dress is a pattern I designed with a commonly used pineapple stitch. The dress was practically free because I didn’t spend much money on it (under $30 for all of the materials including fabric for the lining) and I didn’t spend much extra time on it.”
It looks a little strange on the bodice, but after seeing it on her, I no longer have any doubts!
I crocheted my lace wedding dress on the bus during my work commute for about 5 months. My commute time couldn’t be used for anything else anyway
The best part of all of this? She made it herself. She can be extra proud of her gorgeous creation because many people can now use this same pattern and create dresses of their own! How cool!
