It’s natural to be concerned for our spouses! When they leave the house for the day, anything might happen to them. It’s unlikely that anything bad will happen in the 10 to 12 hours that you’re both out and about for your jobs and errands and meetings, but there’s always that chance that this morning could have been the last time you saw the person you loved. For this woman, she didn’t realize how true that fear could be until her husband said these terrifying words!!
A concerned wife was often worried about her husband, who frequently went out on trips for his job. He was old, but he still commuted long distance because he was dedicated to work. He probably should have retired by now, but he enjoyed his work and wasn’t ready to settle into a life of retirement.
The man’s wife would call him every night on his way home as he sat in traffic, worried about him since he was getting older. She still loved him after being with him for so many years, but she was starting to get lonely when he would be gone until late in the day.
That night, she called her husband during his drive home.
“Herman, I just heard on the news that there’s a car going the wrong way on Interstate 90, please be careful!”
Herman said, “It’s not just one car! There’s hundreds of them!”
My jaw would have hit the FLOOR!! My next call would have been to the police! “PLEASE SAVE MY IDIOT HUSBAND FROM DEATH!!” Basically. The first time I heard this joke, I cracked up. Now that I’m married, I still laugh, but also have the rush of panic and need the check on my own spouse to make sure he isn’t doing something equally stupid. Too funny! And terrifying. But funny. Also, terrifying.
