She Called Her Mother DUMB For Wanting A Newspaper…But Mom DEFINITELY Got The Last Word!

Technology is moving at an astounding rate. Just 10 years ago, mobile phones became widely available, and just 5 years ago, I was able to take the internet with me wherever I decided to go! Okay, maybe those years are a bit of an exaggeration, but it sure feels that way. I didn’t grow up with a tablet in my hand. I went to the library to read if I was bored. I stayed out until the street lights came on if I wanted to talk to my friends. I can totally side with mom on this one. What about you?

I was visiting my daughter last night when I asked if I could borrow a newspaper. I didn’t really want to read it, I just needed it for a moment. She looked up from what she was doing with the most disgusted look on her face.

“Mom, why would you want a newspaper?! This is the 21st century,” quipped my daughter, who didn’t have any newspapers handy and went on a slight rant about how wasteful it was to still be reading paper newspapers, especially in a day and age when we have the internet.

“Mom, you’re just dumb! I’m not about to waste money on something as out-dated as a newspaper. Forests are being mowed down left and right to make paper to print on and practically no one recycles anymore!” She huffed, walking over to hand me the tablet in her hand.

“Here, just use my iPad to search for whatever you need.” She said, a scowl still on her face.

I can tell you this…

…that fly never know what hit him!

You can’t beat that! It’s one thing to explain that technology is more convenient than our “old ways,” but it is another thing to call your mother “dumb” for asking for a familiar object! This daughter acted like she’d never even seen a newspaper! I hope she missed the fly and had to try again. Do you think her daughter bought a warranty against fly-swatting attempts?! Show some respect!
