You’ve seen projects that re-purpose old screen doors and windows, but this one is so fresh that we just had to share it! The beauty of this project is that it accommodates nearly any design or idea that you can come up with because it is just too simple. All you need is a permanent marker, an old screen window or door, and a large piece of burlap fabric (although it isn’t necessary if the screen is placed on a solid colored background).
First, find a design. Many people use their family name, a favorite quote, or an inspirational verse! This woman decided to use a Victorian era ‘Bed and Breakfast’ design. She sized it and printed it out on regular printer paper, taping it to the back of the screen. All that’s left to do is trace the outline and fill it in! Be mindful of the surface you are working on as the permanent marker will often bleed through. She applied a varnish to seal in the design since her project would be sitting outdoors. She also attached the stretch of burlap fabric to the back since the screen window would be laying against the fence outdoors. Would you try this project for your home decorations? This project could easily be shift between the seasons and holidays, but if you have a lot of old screen windows, you can customize each one for different occasions!
