26-year-old police officer, Omar Elhosseiny, was only days away from his wedding to Osiris, the love of his life. But on June 29th, he woke up and discovered that he couldn’t move. He attempted to get out of the bed but fell onto the floor. His nerves had stopped working. He was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a neurological disorder that caused his immune system to attack his nerves.
Osiris was shocked. Her fiances was so healthy. He didn’t smoke or drink, and he led an active lifestyle. The diagnosis seemingly came out of nowhere.
The date for their wedding came and went, and it wasn’t until nearly a month later that Omar was able to speak. The first words out of his mouth were loving words for his intended. When he told Osiris that he still wanted to marry her, the couple was overjoyed.
The nursing staff worked quickly to make the couple’s dream come true! They worked off the clock to hire a pastor, they bought a cake, and decorated the room as best they could with ribbons and flowers.
If they’re going to get married at his bedside, it’s only right we make it as special as we could for them. The deserved that.”
The very next day, the room filled with the couple’s family members, friends, and staff members to witness the ceremony!
Shortly after, Omar was able to be taken off of his respirator and was able to breathe on his own. He is currently undergoing physical therapy, and is working hard to one day soon walk out of the hospital and start his new life with his dedicated wife.
