No Idea If His Grandmother Had Survived The Storm, Police Were No Help. He Ordered Pizza Instead.

Eric Olsen lost contact with his 87-year-old grandmother, Claire Olsen, and didn’t know if she was still alive. He spoke to her on a Friday morning, but once her power had shut off, he hadn’t been able to talk to her for another two days.

I was calling the police department, I was calling the sheriff’s department, and no one was answering, so I was really worried.” He said.

But he suddenly had a crazy idea and hoped that it would work. As a last resort, he decided to order a pizza.
He explained the situation to the staff and said that he hadn’t been able to speak to his grandmother, unable to check on her in two days. He asked if the delivery man would be able to use his cell phone to let him know if he had successfully delivered the pizza.

Police and fire couldn’t do it, but Papa John’s Pizza got there in 30 minutes and put the cellphone to her ear.”

He had no other options. He didn’t live in the city and didn’t know anyone who would be able to check on her. The delivery man reported that the elderly woman was beaming when she was finally able to speak to her grandson – and she got to eat a pizza on top of it all!

But people weren’t happy with his method and say he should have asked the police to do a wellness check instead. He stands firm and says that ordering pizza was a last resort, but one he definitely had to take.
