Marine Suffered Traumatic Brain Injury, But Thanks To These People, He Has His Life Back!

A group of friends were on their way to an event in a large city and decided to grab an Uber instead of driving seperately…but they had no idea that their driver had such an incredible past! Once they realized how they all had made an impact in each other’s life, the story was too amazing not to share!

I want you to meet our Uber driver, Captain Brad Wright, United States Marine Corps. We work for Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, FL and are all in town for an event.

We were passing Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital and our team said ‘That’s where we work. We are the Regional Nurse Liaisons for Brooks.’

He said, Really? You guys really work for Brooks?!’

We all replied ‘Yes!’ His next response was ‘Well, I want to tell you a story. I am a retired Marine fighter pilot. I am married and have 2 kids. In 2006 I was in an accident and suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury). I was in a coma for 30 days. I had lived in Fernandina beach and wanted to be closer to family. They recommend Brooks Inpatient Rehabilitation. I was there for 3 months. They taught me to do everything again.’
He is now a high school football coach, a teacher, Uber driver, father, husband, and a survivor. Thank you Brad for reminding us why we do what we do!!”

Caring for people in the armed services was a priority for this group of friends, and while they worked with people who were going through the worst times in their lives, it was rare for them to witness first hand that difference that they make in their patients whole again. Seeing Brad able to regain a place in the world was more than they could have asked for!
