Iowa State Department Of Transportation Forced To Remind People That Deer Cannot, In Fact, Read

The officials at the Iowa State Department of Transportation have found themselves in a ridiculous situation, and their public service announcement is so ridiculous that people can’t believe its real. While most people understand the function of bright yellow diamond-shaped signs with a deer leaping, also known as “deer crossing” signs…there are still some people that just don’t get it.

They admit that more times than they had previously thought possible, they have been asked this one disturbing question:

Why don’t you put these signs where it is safer for the deer to cross?”

Their answer should have been obvious, but they were forced to explain in detail that deer cannot actually read street signs.

Deer can’t read signs. Drivers can. This sign isn’t intended to tell deer where to cross, it’s for drivers to be alert that deer have been in this area in the past.” The DOT announced.

As the post went viral, people from others states admit that this question isn’t native to Iowa, and people from Pennsylvania and Colorado had asked as well.

Hopefully, this was all one big joke just in time for the holidays for out-of-town visitors…but with the amount of people chiming in to agree that this announcement needed to be made, we’re not so sure.
