Officer Kenneth Knox may be running for Sheriff, but he is also running away with the hearts of hundreds of thousands of people after responding to a call in late September. A frantic call was made to 911 when a 2-month-old baby began choking on something. Her parents attempted CPR, but it wasn’t working. When Officer Knox arrived on the scene, little baby Parham was turning blue and barely hanging on.
He immediately tried reverse CPR and was able to suck the object out of her throat, allowing her to breathe. It was a piece of cereal that she had grabbed suddenly.
She smiled at me for a second and then started crying which was music to my ears. Out of my 25 years being a cop this is my greatest and most profound accomplishment and it made every second of those 25 years worth it all. I am forever humbled and changed by this. Little miss Parham will forever be a part of my life.”
A few days later, the girl’s family asked if he would be their daughter’s godfather, and he was honored to accept the role.
It is my honor, privilege and pleasure,” he responded.
He will be there for her first day of school, her high school graduation, and will be there when she graduates from college. He saved her life and is excited to see her succeed for many years to come. Life is precious, and this little girl will get to live a full one thanks to this quick-thinking officer.
