Deborah Barber owes her sanity to this stranger who was on the flight with her, her 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and her 11-month-old son. It just wasn’t a good day. Her daughter was being a riot and it was taking everything she had as a mother to try and calm the child down.
Flying is stressful for anyone, and when a young child is having a hard time, it can seem impossible to reign them back in if they are upset. The pressure in the cabin, the large amount of strangers, the small space of the seat, and sometimes the kid is just having a bad day. There’s no one thing to blame when this happens, but parents understand it more than anyone else.
I traveled on an airplane yesterday with my 2 and 1/2 year old and 11 month old. My daughter was being an over tired two-nager and was throwing the biggest fit I’ve ever seen. I tried everything to calm her all while holding my baby boy. I just started crying because I was at my wits end. This wonderful woman sitting next to me was an angel sent from God to help me that day. She offered to hold my son while I could calm my little girl. She held and loved on him almost the entire flight. I couldn’t be more thankful for her loving, caring heart. Thank you so much Robyn! I will never forget you… You are an amazing woman!”
Hopefully the woman will see this post and know what a huge difference she made during that flight. Parenting is hard, and that little extra kindness really does go a long way!
