Leopold was stolen from Bev York’s front lawn one chilly December day. She was a little sad that someone would take her adorable lawn ornament, but these things just happen sometimes, so she didn’t think too much of it.
…Until 8 months later. She was walking to her front gate to get the mail when she noticed a large plastic bag hanging from the fence post. Inside, her lost gnome, and a printed picture book, detailed and hand-written by her “gnome,” who identified himself as Leopold.
I saw a motorhome toddle along the road and I thought to myself, “there’s got to be more to life than standing knee-deep in rain water, being peed on by neighborhood dogs, and staring at the same view every single day.” So I hopped on! Turns out these folks were traveling South.”
The little gnome “documented” his 8-month adventure with dozens of photographs and anecdotes throughout his travels! From sipping margaritas on a Mexican beach to posing in front of the Grand Canyon, this little gnome was having the adventure of a lifetime!
In a few of the pictures, the “kidnappers” showed themselves. Bev thinks he was traveling with a couple, their toddler, and two dogs…but she has no idea who they are or why on Earth they would target her friendly little gnome!
It’s anybody’s guess, but this couldn’t have happened to a nicer lady. She was tickled that her gnome got to go on a huge adventure, and excited that someone cared enough about it to create a photo album for her.
We think it’s adorable.
