It was time for lunch, and George Moss was heading into a sub shop to get himself a sandwich when he was stopped by a young guy with an odd request. In downtown Chicago, the young man had been denied and ignored several times before approaching Moss, and it may have just changed his life. Moss invited him to join him for lunch, but it didn’t stop there.
As the two ate their meal, Moss listened to the young man’s story. He was trying to help support his mother and siblings but wasn’t sure where to start.
Moss helped get a resume started for the kid so that in the future, he could earn his own food instead of asking for it on the streets. While there hasn’t been any update on the young man’s progress, the story has inspired others to take a closer look at the people struggling in their own communities. People want a way to help those in need, and Moss’ actions have given them the answer: one person at a time. We can’t help everyone at once, but if each of us helps in what little ways we can, sooner or later, we’ll be able to see the change in our own towns and cities.
