Jason Haney, the foreman of a construction site realized that there was a children’s hospital across the street from their project. While talking with one of the workers, the man pondered how fun it might be for the kids if there was a giant “Waldo” hidden in and around the area. Well, after not being able to get the idea out of his head for a while, he decided to create one.
His giant Waldo is 8 feet tall and weighs a little over 50 pounds, but the kids are having a blast waking up everyday to try and spot Waldo. When the majority of the children have spotted Waldo, a representative from the hospital calls him, and he moves the huge cut-out to a new location.
He’s awkward to carry, but it’s worth it for the kids.”
He even started a Facebook page for the giant Waldo so that patients and their families could post pictures of their discoveries online. The families love it, and Haney is glad that he can make so many children smile.
His own teenage daughter had lived in a hospital when she was 3 and was more than happy to help brighten the days of other children because she knew what it was like. The previous year, they got word that the hospital’s residents had loved a snowman that had been build on the construction site, and it just seemed like the next logical step! If a little joy costs lugging around a giant Waldo, he’s more than willing to do it.
