Church officials weren’t sure what to expect when they saw this envelope sitting in the collection plate after service one Sunday. When the secretary opened it up, she had to call the entire staff to see what had been given.
Please don’t be mad I don’t have much. I’m homeless. -God Bless”
When she opened the letter, one dime, one nickel, and three pennies came out. A grand total of $0.18. While it was an anonymous donation, the church knew that it was one of the men who had eaten breakfast at the church that morning and left the donation behind.
They posted a picture of the envelope and said that the community would help him out if he revealed his identity, but the man phoned the church and told them that he would rather it remain between himself, God, and the church.
They posted an update with this quote:
…This poor widow has put in more than all of them; for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on” (Luke 21:3-4).”
