A teen from Indiana has become the inspiration for people – young and old – around the country. It’s never too late to start working towards your goals, and even if you don’t have a cent to invest, this kid proves that there is always a way. With a little bit of creativity and a lot of persistence, he has given many people a new perspective on their own lives.
Earl Davis saw this young boy jogging along the road dragging two old tires attached to a long chain. It was a curious sight, and he just had to turn around and ask him what it was all about.
I don’t mean to be rude, but you gotta drive while I jog; I gotta stay moving.”
The boy didn’t know that he was speaking to the coach of the Metro Youth Sports football team, and told the man that he was training to make the Nothside freshman football team. His family couldn’t afford it, but he wanted to try his hardest.
Davis was impressed by the kid’s determination and offered to let him train with his own students at their gym. The post was shared thousands of times, and the community quickly came together to donate equipment, clothing, and money for the young boy to achieve his dreams. They hosted a fundraiser for the boy, Demarco, and his brothers to purchase real training gear and work harder towards their goals.
The best part about this story? The offensive coordinator at Northside high school has asked for Demarco’s contact information…he may have gotten a spot on the team after all!
