While out and about running errands one day, a young man came back to find a folded up piece of paper stuffed inside of an envelope on the hood of his car. It couldn’t have been a parking ticket because it was rather bulky, so he assumed it was a note from someone who had either hit his car or had a few choice words to say about his parking job. Great, this was just what he needed after a hard day of driving around town.
When he opened it, however, he wasn’t greeted with anger or frustration or an apology for a wayward scratch in the paint. The note was typed out, meaning that whomever had left it for him had taken the time to make sure he knew exactly how to follow his instructions. It was an act of good will, and the person who left it had chosen to remain anonymous!
You do not know me but I saw that you needed some tires for your truck and I wanted to do something nice for a stranger because one day a stranger did the same for me. The receipt is in the envelope and all you have to do is go by Warehouse Tire on 3rd Street and ask for Steven Hodges and they will be [sic] put them on for free. All I ask is that one day you do something nice for a complete stranger.”
The total for these new tires was over $400.00! That is a LOT for a random stranger to just donate, but he did it with a good heart full of thankfulness. He wasn’t able to return the favor that had been given to him in the past…so he was paying it forward in the best way he knew how! It may be that he had pre-paid for everything and was just searching for a car parked on the street that had bad tires, but the sentiment is still there. Whoever you are, kind soul, know that your good deeds have inspired hundreds of thousands of people! 🙂
