You’ve seen them at fairs and maybe a few restaurants: spiraled potatoes. They are magical and delicious. It’s still a potato, but being cooked in a spiral shape just somehow makes them taste better. Until now, I had no idea how people cooked potatoes this way…now, I don’t think I will be able to stop! It’s fast and easy, and it’s just too fun!
First, skewer the potato. Next, start slicing the edge of the potato at a downward angle and rotate the potato until the entire thing is one giant slice. You don’t need to peel the potato, just wash it and scrub off any dirt.It takes a little maneuvering, but grab the top of the potato and slowly drag the edges down. The potato can rip and tear apart at this stage, so it is important to do this step carefully. One the potatoes have been separated, place them on a baking sheet and sprinkle them with oil and a dash of salt. Olive oil is a favorite, but you could use vegetable oil or sunflower seed oil, too.Bake them at 320 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 minutes until the potato has been cooked through and the edges have turned a golden brown! Remove them by carefully sliding them off of the skewers with a fork. They will be very hot!If you forgot to add salt, you can add it after as well as pepper or any other seasonings to this delicious side item! It looks fun and it tastes amazing! Will you give it a try?
