Finding ear buds that cancel out ambient noise was impossible for this guy. The ones he found in his local stores just weren’t good enough to block out the noise on his morning commute, but ordering customized ear buds online was going to be much too expensive to make it worthwhile. So, he got to experimenting and stumbled across a genius solution that only ended up costing him a few cents and a few minutes of his afternoon. Is it too good to be true? You can be the judge of that.
It all starts with a pair of regular old earplugs – he bought the kind that come in a pack of 10 – and if you don’t feel like shelling out the cash for new ones, test it out on your old ones! No one has to know.
He sliced each one in half.
Then, he stabbed each one through the center with a toothpick. Any small, sharp object will do the same. The earplugs are made of a foamy material that allows them to be stretched out enough to fit the bud of a headphone to fit inside of the center!
He squished the foam so that the ear bud would fit into his ear…and that was it!
One of the drawbacks that people discovered? They need to be cleaned more often than regular headphones, but claimed that a quick swipe with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol did the trick.
