Boston Marathon Bombing Survivor To Marry The Firefighter Who Saved Her!

Roseann Sdoia, a long-distance runner, was watching near the finish line when the explosion took thousands of people by surprise. Terrorists struck at the Boston Marathon back in 2013, and Roseann was one of the many casualties. Hit by shrapnel, she lay on the ground, bleeding and in pain when Boston firefighter Mike Materia rushed to help and get her to the hospital where her leg was amputated in order to save her life.

I asked him if I was going to die. And he told me that I was going to be OK, that I only had a flesh wound,” she recalled.

Roseann’s mother knew that their bond would be special, playing matchmaker right from the beginning!

In the hospital, my mom tried to set me up with him,” Roseann said. “She was like, ‘Oh, did you see that firefighter? He’s so cute.’ And I was like, ‘Mom, I just got blown up.’ ”

But mom knew that she was right! As Roseann recovered from her injuries, the pair hit it off. As they talked, they grew closer. Their relationship blossomed into a beautiful romance…and as mom predicted years ago, it will now lead them to marriage!

He took her to a special place and told her to look at their dog’s new name tag. It was engraved with a question!

Mike wants to know…if you’ll marry him.”

They are planning a wedding for the fall of 2017.
