Have you ever gotten a letter from a secret admirer? These kinds of playful notes are usually only given in grade school classrooms, passed between shy kids who are too nervous to talk to the student that they have a crush on. “Check ‘yes’ or ‘no'” may have been the most popular when I was growing up, but after the invention of cell phones I have to imagine that these little heartfelt questions might not be as common anymore.
Brené Brown found a little note like this one day as she was leaving the gym. It was written on a napkin and folded under her windshield. She was curious at first, and then a little confused…
You are really cute. I am going 2-stepping tonight, if you would like to join me. CALL ME -“
You see, for one thing, Mrs. Brown is married. She is a research professor at the University of Houston, has written three #1 New York Times Bestsellers, and has her Ph.D. in social work. She is used to people complimenting her intelligence and accomplishments. But the note in her hand had just called her “cute.”
And then she recognized the handwriting. Her loving husband had spontaneously left this adorable note – and his cell phone number (as if she didn’t have it) – for her to find after a workout. Who wouldn’t love this?
There is no way that anyone would be able to go through the rest of the day in a bad mood! How cute is this guy? Take a page from his book. Do something special for the loved ones in your life! What better reason than a simple “I love you,” right?
