Walmart Cashier Stuns Mother In Need When Her WIC Benefits Are Denied At The Register

Nick Tate is well-known at his local Walmart for being a positive, efficient cashier by his regular customers, but his actions one evening had his community even more proud than usual.

It was a Friday night, and one mom came into the store for the essentials, some groceries, baby formula, and diapers. Her cart was filled all while toting around two young daughters and an infant, but by the time she got up to the register, she realized that she had made a huge mistake.

The mother was trying to use her WIC benefits through the federal program put in place to assist low-income women, children, and infants to buy the things her children needed. What she hadn’t realized is that the benefits only covered specific brands of formula, and she had picked up the wrong kind.

As they tried to work out what the problem was with the card, the line grew behind her. People began to mumble, and the mother was beginning to get distressed.

That’s when Nick did something unexpected – he pulled out his personal card and paid for the $60 worth of baby products that weren’t being approved.

$60 might not seem like a lot, but to this mother, it was everything. She started to cry. That money is what Nick had earned after a full day of work, but he didn’t hesitate to help.

You never know what God is going to to. Yeah, it might be hard. It might be scary. It might be a day’s wage. But, if God is calling you to do it, he’s going to have something major for you,” he said.

Walmart’s corporate Facebook page gave him a shout out, and he had been named “employee of the month.” People still think he deserves more.
