Tammy Hembrow has done what thousands of moms across the country have done in recent months: posted before and after pictures of her “mom bod.” She took a photo immediately after arriving home from giving birth, and again a month and a half later to show everyone her progress. The difference between Hembrow and a lot of other moms out there? She is a fitness model, and fitness is her job.
When she discovered that she was pregnant, she stopped training during the last few months to welcome her precious baby into the world. The problem is that people don’t realize that she was eating right and exercising long before she became pregnant, and her body’s ability to “bounce back” was hard earned.
Of course, like most moms, she isn’t 100% happy with the way she looks after giving birth.
I’ve lost a LOT of muscle but I’m pretty happy with my postpartum body so far! So many women think ‘you can’t get your body back after pregnancy’ but this just isn’t true. I can’t wait to start training again in a few weeks and get my body in the best shape it’s ever been in.”
She also wants moms to stop comparing themselves to others.
It’s so important to love yourself and your body at every stage in your life.”
