Julie trusted her son to keep his own bathroom clean, and while she would check on it every now and then to make sure that it was picked up…she never realized what was lurking inside of the toilet! He hadn’t been scrubbing his toilet, and as a result, tough mold had begun to grow and stick to the sides of the toilet bowl.
She instantly recognized those stains and knew that even if she spent a half hour scrubbing it, they weren’t going to come off without a fight…but she had a trick up her sleeve! The first step was get rid of the water in the bowl. She used a plunger to force water down the pipe and left only a small amount at the bottom. Then, she dried the bowl with a few paper towels.
The most important step was to soak a wad of paper towels in undiluted vinegar and place them directly on top of the stubborn mold. The stains in her bowl were gone after letting the paper towels soak through the mold in just two hours! She peeled away the paper towels and tossed them into the garbage leaving a perfectly clean toilet bowl behind! She has since taught her son the importance of cleaning the toilet regularly…so hopefully she will never have to use this method again!
Others have commented on her method to say that they spray the inside of their toilet bowl with vinegar from a spray bottle once or twice a week to keep mold at bay without scrubbing! You can find more details in her post here!
