He Mailed This Letter To Himself After Their Third Date…Two Years Later, He Used It To PROPOSE!

Blake and Joanne has gone to college together (and even attended the same events!) 11 years before they officially met. They went to the same college, the same parties, the same concerts, and he had even attended her 23rd birthday party without either of them realizing it! When they were eventually matched up through a dating website, Blake just knew that she was the one.

He claimed that he knew she was “the one” after their third date and decided to find the most romantic way to do it. He wrote her a letter, mailed it to himself, and kept it for two years until the time was right.

He spent a few week “building up” to the moment.

First, weeks before he proposed, he casually mentioned that he wanted to buy a letter opener because he always ruins mail when opening up envelopes.  Unbeknownst to me, he wanted one to make sure the envelope was opened cleanly, preserving the ever-so-important postmark. Several days later he mentioned that he has tons of old jeans in his closet that he hadn’t worn in years.

On the night of the proposal while getting ready, he told me that he was going to break out one of the old pairs of jeans to wear out to dinner and “give them some airtime”. I didn’t think anything of it. When we got off the subway and started walking toward the restaurant, we passed a Staples. Blake saw the store, appeared to have an epiphany, and had us quickly run in and grab the letter opener that he said he had been wanting. Again, I didn’t anything of it since he’d previously mentioned that he wanted one.  That, and buying a letter opener right before a nice dinner was very normal “Blake behavior”.

During their cocktails, he pretends to discover the letter in his old pair of jeans and pointed out the post mark from two years before. He used his new letter opener, pretended to read the first line, and handed it to her…

I started reading the letter and began tearing up the second I realized what was happening. At the end of the letter Blake wrote, “If you are reading this right now, it means I was right, and that I bought a ring and am about to propose.”  I looked up and he was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen.”

This is one of the most creative proposals we’ve ever heard of!
